My Summer Writing Assignment

Have you ever been to Vancouver Island, where it is very peaceful and nice all the time, where you can go caving in Comox or venturing in Victoria? Yeah, pretty nice place. But if you would like to go to a nice small island with great beaches and a small population, then Denman Island is the place for you. It is quite close to Vancouver Island, just a ten-minute cable ferry ride. And i know i have already taken you through quite a lot in this paragraph so far, and you will probably be quite surprised that I still haven’t gotten to the main part of the story. So, anyways, right off the coast of Denman there is another nice small island called Hornby. On Hornby island there is a nice little walk you can go on on the Helliwell trail; a hike across some steep cliffs where you can write your name in sticks on a big hill made of sand, look at the cool trees in the forest, and sit on the cliffs overlooking the sea. But the most fun part was when we discovered a whole colony of ocean life on the tide pools. The tide pools were discovered by me and my aunt, and it was on the opposite side of a big hill, so we couldn’t see them when we were walking by. It were an awesome little area with a bunch of small pools inside a grassy exterior. The pools had some amazing creatures in them, including tons of multicoulored starfish with beautiful sparkly backs, spiky sea urchins that ranged in size from the length of a pencil to the size of a soccer ball, and funny little spiky sea cucumbers. We even think that there was a hidden octopus, because something that we couldn’t see kept squirting some inky substance at us. It was a really fun experience, and I really hope that I can go back there sometime.
